Strainers

Back to Armstrong Products

 Y-Type    |   T-Type

A strainer helps screen out particulate matter in a piping system. Although steam traps get most of the glory, strainers also play an important role in the efficient operation of a well-designed system.

Armstrong offers strainers in a wide choice of sizes and materials to meet most pipeline straining requirements. All strainers are made to Armstrong's high standards and are guaranteed to be free from defects in workmanship or material.

Armstrong Y-type strainers are available in cast iron, carbon steel, chrome-moly, forged steel, stainless steel and bronze. Connections come in screwed, socketweld and flanged configurations. Armstrong T-type strainers are available in stainless steel.

Screen Chambers won't Leak or Crush:

Cast Iron Armstrong Strainer A/CABoth ends
of the chambers are precisely machined. This means perfectly round and smooth seating surfaces, as well as a fixed chamber length. Since the screen seats snugly on the machined surface, no particle bigger than the screen opening can escape around the end of the screen.

Cast Carbon Steel B Series Armstrong StrainerOff-Center Blowdown Connections for Better Dirt Removal: Off-center drains on 2-1/2" and 3" strainers allow you to remove liquid and dirt nearly completely when blowing down the strainer. Also, less liquid will spill when the screen retainer is removed.

Many Screen Choices - screen materials, meshes and perforations - are available.

Screwed Retainers: Easy In, Easy OutCast Chrome Moly Steel (WC6) C Series Armstrong Strainers
Straight threads mean it takes less torque to achieve a tight seal with proper gasket compression. Less torque is also required to remove the retainer. For you, that means less danger of "freezing in" than with hard-to-break tapered pipe threads.

T Type Stainless Steel Strainers

T Series
Stainless Steel
Strainers

The proven thin-wall all-stainless steel construction of Armstrong's T-Type Strainers gives high resistance to corrosion and freeze damage in a lightweight body designed to provide larger open screen area.

The retainer design of T-Type strainers simplifies maintenance, because the stainless steel retainer wire holding the retainer in place is easily accessible through the blowdown connection. Just remove the screen with a pair of pliers for easy cleaning or replacement.
