Waterworks Pressure Relief Valves

Spec & Tech Sheets

The 50 Series Pressure Relief Valve is designed to maintain constant upstream pressure within close limits. In operation, the valve is actuated by line pressure through a pilot control system, opening fast to maintain steady line pressure but closing gradually to prevent surges. In addition to surge relief, this valve can be used for pressure relief, pressure sustaining, back pressure, or unloading functions in a by-pass system.

There are many variations on the basic pressure relief valve, including but not limited to the following.

  • 50-01KO Pressure Relief with KO Anti-Cavitation Trim
  • 50-33 Excessive Pressure Safety Shut-Off
  • 52 Series Pressure Relief ands Surge Anticipator
  • 550 Series Pressure Relief, Pressure Sustaining
  • 58-01 Combination Back Pressure and Solenoid Shut-Off

250-01/605-01 Differential Pressure Relief Valves

Benefits & Features

The Cla-Val Model 250-01/605-01 Differential Pressure Relief Valve is a hydraulically operated, pilot-controlled, modulating valve. It is designed to maintain a constant pressure differential between any two pressure points in a system where the closing of the valve directly causes the differential pressure to increase. The valve tends to open on an increase in differential pressure and close on a decrease in differential pressure. Typical applications include differential pressure control in centrifugal pumping systems and chilled water circulating loop systems.

Shut-Off Valve

58-01/658-01 Combination Back Pressure and Solenoid Shut-Off Valve

Benefits & Features

The Cla-Val Model 58-01/658-01 valve performs two separate functions. It maintains a constant backpressure by discharging excess pressure downstream and when the solenoid is activated the valve closes drip-tight.

When inlet pressure is greater than the control setting, the valve opens. When inlet pressure is equal to the control setting, the pilot modulates the valve, maintaining the preselected backpressure. When inlet pressure is less than the control setting, the pilot system closes the valve drip tight.

Fire Protection Pressure Relief Valve
Fire Protection Pressure Relief Valve

50B-4KG1 Fire Protection Pressure Relief Valve - UL, FM, ULC

Benefits & Features

The Cla-Val Model 50B-4KG1 Globe / 2050B-4KG1 Angle Pressure Relief Valve is designed specifically to automatically relieve excess pressure in fire protection pumping systems. Pilot controlled, it maintains constant system pressure at the pump discharge within very close limits as demands change.

At pump start, Cla-Val Relief Valve modulates to relieve excess pump capacity, maintaining positive system pressure at the pump discharge. When fire demand slows or ceases, Cla-Val Model 50B-4KG1 opens, diverting entire pump output to discharge, allowing fire pump to be stopped without causing surging in the lines.

50B-5KG Fire Protection Pump Suction Control Valve

Benefits & Features

The Model 50B-5KG Pump Suction Control Valve is designed specifically for Fire Pump Suction Control Service. It modulates to maintain the pump discharge in relation to the suction head available, thus assuring that the suction head pressure does not fall below the pre-set minimum. When there is a demand in the Fire System, the pump is started, delivering water from the supply source to the area of demand.

By maintaining minimum pressure requirements in the supply main, the main is protected from possible damage or backflow conditions. Also, a minimum supply pressure is provided for local fire apparatus.

Benefits & Features

The Cla-Val Model 55L (UL Listed FM approved) Pressure Relief Valve is a direct-acting, spring loaded, diaphragm type relief valve. The valve may be installed in any position and will open and close within very close pressure limits. Using the Model 55L in a fire protection system or other closed type system, prevents pressure build-up whenever line pressure exceeds the setting of the spring. The valve will relieve excess pressure to atmosphere preventing damage to the distribution network.
